WHO Drug is a dictionary of known medicines maintained by the World Health Organization since 1968.

It contains lists of all known manufactured drugs in every country that was ever reported to WHO.

WHODrug identifies Generic Drugs(Preferred Terms) and non-Generic Drugs(Synonyms)

The dictionary also associates a drug with an Anatomical-Therapeutic Classification; that is, the parts and systems of the human body where this drug might have an effect.

The dictionary has changed structure(formats) three times in its history. Currently in use are the B2 and C formats

The WHO Dictionaries have three different content versions:
WHO-DD
The base or original WHODrug dictionary
WHO-DDE
The original WHO-DD plus all drugs from IMS
WHO-HD
An Herbal Dictionary, where all new Herbal drugs from 2003
onward are recorded
Combined File format
Available from June 2006, where the WHO-HD and WHO-DDE are combined into a single set of files, this is the most complete
